Again I find myself sitting with Lars sleeping nearby. We are on a mission of sorts. One that if we are favored we will be able to return home with life still in our bodies.
I had been practicing in the gardens after my last trip to Rebma. Lars found me there with my men, and after I finished the day's lesson Lars and I spoke. Nothing of importance, but we were interrupted by a summons from Eric.
Eric sent us back to Rebma, to follow the Black Road-like anomaly there. We accepted, but the idea made us both desire to do something amusing. I never really know what to do with myself in such situations, leisure is not something I experience much. Lars knew only the city a thousand years gone. So we ended up where Vincent is know to frequent, "Bloody something", the name changes quite often.
Once there a few of our cousins started showing up. We shared where we were going, and the idea that we were sent to die came up. Then people were trying to get us out of our duty, but Eric shall be surprised if he did indeed send us to die.
I learned that the League of the Silver Rose are traveling through dreams. This new development bothers me greatly.
Eventually we left and wandered the city before returning to the palace. Fortunately our rooms are close, as Lars was attacked by strange demon-like creatures. When they were cut the blood caught fire, very strange. The creatures were destroyed, but they had managed to poison me.
Lars gave every indication that he knew what the creatures had been. He knew how to treat the poison, and saw to it himself. When I awoke I found that he had fallen asleep in a chair nearby, I can't remember anyone doing such a thing for me before. He feels he owes me an explanation, yet I feel that his act of kindness was greater than my jumping to his aid. Still I will hear his story, I am curious.
The trip along the trench/Black Road has been rather uneventful thus far. A moment of note was when we encountered a pod of large whales that were apparently manipulating shadow somehow. One of them took interest in me, and attempted communication. I still am not sure what exactly they were trying to say, but the whale took us on a trip. It moved so fast though shadow that it was like being in a tunnel. When it stopped we were where we started. After the display it swam away, and so did we.
We found a little island to take a rest on, and now I am where I started. It feels good to be on dry land, but this too shall end soon.
