The night finds Alexander recovering from his wounds when he gets a Trump call from Alice. After speaking to Alex, Alice decides that everyone should all try to find Lellyn; who might be lost in the dream world. She proceeds to Trump Kaoru, who is just drifting to sleep. Kaoru insists that everyone get together at the castle in the morning. Alice also Trumps Vinnie and Lars, speaking to each of them in their dreams. One was dreaming about Flappers, and the other about war. Guess which was which!

After getting some advice on the Triton situation Kaoru decided to watch over Lars, who was also hurt. It wouldn't do for him to be assassinated now. After the Trump call from Alice, Kaoru finally drifts off to sleep. Only to be awoken by the sound of something breaking. She listens out the door, but only hears something moving around in the kitchen. Deciding that demon assassins wouldn't be rummaging around the kitchen she drifts back into sleep.

Meanwhile Alice wakens to find herself being kidnapped. She loses consciousness knowing that she at least kicked one of them.

Alexander awakens to the pain that is his sword wound, and decides to rest until he is needed. Vinnie awakens at his usual early noon hour, and has breakfast. About this time Alexander decides to wake up an edgy, sleep deprived Kaoru with a Trump call. Kaoru is so worried about Alice not being seen yet, she tells Alexander that it can wait until after she has spoken to his father. Lars and Kaoru get breakfast and say their good byes.

Meanwhile Alexander Trumps Alice, and makes contact with her in her dream. Alice says that she thinks she was captured. Well then it would be a simple matter to Trump her out, right? The Alice that is Trumped is, however, insubstantial. After somehow manifesting a dream rabbit, Alice returns to the dream realm and leaves the rabbit behind. Alice tries to find her body, but ends up in a 'Alice in Wonderland' style dream. Her dream however is interrupted, and she awakens to a Trump call from Vinnie.

About this time Kaoru and Lars Trump to Eric. Kaoru gives Eric the run down of where the Black Current took them, and just how unlikely it would be to go in and get the Queen of Rebma. Eric gives them leave, saying that he will get back in touch with them.

Outside Eric's door Kaoru gets a Trump call from Vinnie, whom is holding an unconscious Alice. After drawing them through, Vinnie explains that he had Trumped to Alice. She had been chained down to an altar, over which had been painted a black unicorn. It now seems that everyone wants Alice for some reason.

Everyone is now together, but in the infirmary. Well everyone that could be contacted. Alice is reunited with her dream rabbit, whom gains solidity with her presence. With the state that Alice and Alexander are in, the hunt for Lellyn is delayed. During the discourse the rabbit, that happens to be white, suddenly pulls out a pocket watch, checks it, and then hurries off. Later brightly colored, chocolate filled eggs are found in the castle.

With one of the cousins missing, Lars fetches Eric so that he may be filled in on Alice's kidnapping and Lellyn's vanishing act. After Eric leaves, strange Wonderland creatures start popping out of a small door that appeared near Alice's bed. Kaoru and Vinnie threaten the creatures back into the hole beyond the door, while Lars leads Alice down the hall.

With all the excitement happening around Amber, Alexander suggests a vacation to Shadow Earth's Japan. The idea was that everyone would get to rest up, and all was going according to plan. That was until Lars got a Trump call, from his mother.

Apparently there was a Royal Ball going on back home, and it would be just lovely if he could make it. Lars agrees to go, makes a few preparations and starts down the Black Road. As he travels a few Hell Cats wander up and inform him to watch out for some Hell Maidens, whom were sent to attack the Swordsman of Amber. Suddenly making a wonderful leap of logic, Lars realizes that Benedict is the object of the attack. Before Lars can warn his friend, his mother Trumps him and brings him to the Courts.

Alice gets a school girl outfit as a gift, hmmmm would Vinnie do such a thing? Alex, Alice and Vinnie proceed to consume too much alcohol and have a relaxing evening. Kaoru wanders into the gardens, where she surprises someone who Trumps out. Not really wanting to add more to her worries just yet she attempts meditate on recent events.

At one point she focuses on the pulsing that she is now attuned to, as she had before. This time however she finds that she is suddenly in a tunnel of Shadows, all of them moving by rapidly. Noticing that she seems to be traveling toward a particular pulse she decides that she is being taken somewhere. Unfortunately she hits something and blacks out.

Meanwhile Lars manages to not only take his mother trying to marry him off, but fends off an assassination attempt as well. He is offered a military position in the war against Amber, which he declines to accept right away. Now if his life wasn't complicated enough, Kaoru drops in... from the ceiling. Fortunately for her every bone in her body is broken, and thus obviously not a threat.

Taking a risk Lars has her taken out to his Ways, where he fixes her up as best he can. After Kaoru explains that she didn't intend to just drop out of Shadow, Lars tries to formulate a plan to get her out. Taking up the Amber Trump, Lars makes himself an enemy of the Courts by taking Kaoru through to Amber. Strangely Terulian's Ambassador Lentaro happened to be walking by the Trump room and was quick to identify an injured Amberite. Len offers his Shadow's technology to heal up the broken Kaoru. The offer is accepted and the trio travel to the docks.

Back in Japan Alexander, Alice, and Vinnie wake up with wonderful Sake hangovers. They all collect together, and realize that Lars and Kaoru are missing. Before they can start an organized search Vinnie throws everyone to the ground, right before the room is riddled with machine gun fire. As they cower, oh sorry, take cover behind some tables Alexander finds some automatic weapons, and as they return fire they realize that it is the Silver Rose. The leader of the Silver Rose Trumps Alice at this point, saying that this will all end if she goes to him. She declines and attempts to shoot him through the connection. That's our girl!

Alexander decides to shift them to a near Shadow, so they can get away. At about this point Alex realizes that the sword wound in his side has worked itself open. Vinnie takes over Shadow shifting duties and leads Alex and Alice to a Shadow with some decent tech. Vinnie leaves them there with his boys, and goes off to find some Shadow recruits.

At some point Alexander makes a comment about 'Alien Technology' which causes the local government to try and capture everyone, or is it just because Alice is there? Alex manages to break free and masquerade as one of the guards. He takes over the truck that was transporting Alice and Vinnie's boys, and drives everyone to safety. Alex gets healed and no one mentions 'Alien' technology again.

Back on the ship to Terulia, Lars is Trumped by his mother. Just as he suspected, he is now an enemy of the Courts. Then he speaks to Eric via Trump, and tells Eric of the Courts. Eric requests Lars' presence on the front line, along with Vincent until Kaoru is up and moving again. Lars says that he wants to make sure Kaoru gets to where she is going, and Eric agrees for now.

Alexander travels into Shadow and finds a bunch of lizard people that worship him as a god, and recruits them to fight in the war. Vinnie finds the Super Friends, and manages to convince them to travel with him and save the universe. Vinnie Trumps Lars, wondering what to do with Alice. Lars suggests sending her to a safe place, but they send her to Amber. Eric Trumps Lars again, and Lars leaves for the front lines leaving Kaoru to the rest of her journey.

In Terulia Kaoru is moved into a pod like thing, and she loses consciousness. In Amber Alice is yet again attacked by the Silver Rose. She attempts to unarm one of the masked men, who's sword looks like Corwin's. Instead she receives a face full of pummel. About this time another group shows up to try and take her away. Someone also had guns that worked! She managed to get safely behind the Amber guards, and Trumped to Vinnie and Alexander.

Kaoru awakens just in time to hear a ding, and the lid on her pod opens. There is Len with her mended clothing, and he informs her that Alexander is waiting for her. Kaoru mentions to Alex that her sword went missing when she was injured, and he attempts to find it because it could just be in that box there. He finds a katana, but not her sword. She leaves to locate it herself, and Alexander returns to Vinnie. Kaoru joins Lars and the front lines and Alice joins her family in Shadow.

Kaoru leads the army, and Lars fights. On the first day they are able to break just even with the wyvern creatures of Chaos. The second day Alexander and Vincent provide a surprise attack to the enemy flank. When the dust settles the enemy forces are crushed, not to mention the Super Friends whom found that most of their powers no longer worked here in Amber. Some may be missing in action, but this is unclear.

That night the forces of Amber celebrate...
