Background

The campaign started out several years after the close of the Merlin Chronicles. Merlin was King of Chaos. Random was still King of Amber. Life has been relatively quiet in the past few years. No major deaths, disappearances, or the like.

Some in Amber point to the inclusion of a Rebman named Spendal joining the advisors attending on King Random. Spendal was an old acquaintence of Vialle's from Rebma, or so the story goes. Random's policies towards a number of things have slowly changed over the past year or so, and many point to the manipulating influence of Spendal as the source. Corwin, Bleys, and Fiona have all become notably absent from the halls of Castle Amber of late.

Meanwhile, in Chaos, where much of the story had taken place, Marwin, a noble from House Morpheus, had been found murdered outside of his private Ways, under unusual circumstances.

Since then, things have changed dramatically, and the campaign is now in a sort of second phase.

Forces have not only marched on Amber, but they have shattered its defenses. Even Benedict, with all his military acumen, could not stop this foe. Rumors fly about what happened. Word is that Finndo has taken the Eternal City by force, reclaiming the throne that was denied him so long ago. Random is said to have been thrown bodily at Finndo's flying chariot as he called out to challenge Oberon, only to find Brand coming out to take up the challenge. It is even said that Finndo overpowered the one-time traitor to the throne. Rebma is making overtures of peace towards the new monarch, Chaos has yet to make a move, and the Princes of Amber are in hiding.
